I am Andrei Bonilla, a multidisciplinary artist, creative director, and photographer devoted to rendering the essence of felt experiences rather than mere visual representation. My practice delves into the profound themes of memory, motion, and transformation, often expressed through abstract compositions that invite viewers into moments of stillness and profound reflection.
My artistic sensibility was first shaped by formal studies in Graphic Arts and Graphic Design at Colegio Técnico Don Bosco. This foundational training in visual language and composition provided a rich groundwork that matured through an extensive professional career. For over two decades, I’ve navigated the dynamic landscapes of creative direction, honing my craft from Art Director (2000-2011) to Lead Creative Director (2011-present). In these roles, I've cultivated a deep understanding of storytelling, creativity, design thinking, and user experience—disciplines that, far from being separate, intricately inform and enrich the conceptual depth and narrative structure of my fine art.
My creative process is deeply guided by intuition, whether I am building layers of paint on canvas, capturing the fleeting nuances of everyday life through photography, or designing immersive visual experiences. This approach allows me to explore the dynamic interplay between tradition and experimentation, where the spontaneity of acrylics can merge seamlessly with the precision of digital media.
A pivotal moment in my artistic journey was my participation in the XIV Edition of the Florence Art Biennale in 2023, where I was honored as a winner. This significant international recognition further solidifies my commitment to creating impactful and resonant work that speaks to the shared human experience.
Let’s talk.
Every painting has its own story, and sometimes, it finds the right person. If something you’ve seen here speaks to you, I’d love to hear from you.
